Ladies and Gents, it is with great pleasure that I would like to announce some incredible news
1: I attended my first big event (Great North War, Brisbane, Lochac / Australia) 2: I was authorized on Friday night and fought many times over the weekend 3: I was complimented so many times on my armour I lost count 4: I was humbled to the point of tears when this afternoon I was awarded a Member of the Order of the Shining Helm of Lochac by their Majesties (an award for exceptional armour)
Such an award would not have been possible without the assistance of you all, most of all Effingham-sensei and Mykaru-dono who supplied my kabuto (which earned uncounted praise all weekend)

Omedetou gozaimasu, tomodachi. I am certain it was well earned on your own account. ;-D

Fantastic! I'm so glad to hear your armor was appreciated It really did turn out amazing, especially for a first kit. It looks better than at least 50% of the armor I see at events (Our kingdom events turn out 40+ fighters usually)

Its been a while - "life happens" as they say I asked about jinbaori and eventually decided to just make one after looking at a lot of pics essentially I went with a kosode pettern without sleeves and a few extras its brown and red with grey bias around it all - so it goes somewhat with my armour I wanted something fancy and so I started copying a woodcut of a tsunami onto the back. Still have a couple of colours to go and also I think a red mon at the top centre back and perhaps the front shoulders. For those who are strict on such things.. dont read the next line... Its done by painting with acrylic paints... here it is so far

WOW! Nice work. Any chance we get to see the front? I want to see how you made out with the lapels.

I will get some more pics up soon, including the front
essentially the pattern is a single piece of material width is 1/2 distance from wrist to wrist (same as kosode without sleeves or the extra bits on front length is 2 times distance from shoulder to knee top for one half (the front) I cut up the middle) I did not put in a curve for the back of the neck (none of the example photos I could find had curved necks like a kosode) for the neck I cut an 8 inch square (giving seam allowance) for the collar front I sewed up 4 inches in from the centre cut up to the neck square the only extra I sewed in was the (3x8 inch) 24 inch collar
I am not a pattern maker so I will see how it works out

You'll know once you put it on over your armor. Kataginu and hitatare have square-backed necks, so your method has precedents.
