Greetings,
I am looking to try and build my own akunoya and I have the description from Mr. Bryant's articles but I was looking for a picture if possible. Does anyone happen to have one or can point me in the appropriate direction? Thanks in advance.

The first two are a sengoku-era model (inside and outside). The third is a Heian-era model.

Oohhh, another project! (Not.) Perhaps painting mon on the carport might suffice. ;)


How does this thing do in an intemperate climate? Would the flooring be, for example, boards or finished plywood supported by 2 x 4's?

I like that the sides are raisable; that would be great for changing the opening to stay in the shade and for getting/staying out of --- a breeze.

Doh, geez I didn't even notice the tent link in there. The car/boat canopy idea is great and cheap! That means more money could be used for the decorative stuffs and less on the actual structure.

Ahh, the carport idea was a cool one. Even Effingham suggested it on his website :) I even found a guy here locally that wants to sell one for $50 so that is dirt cheap. The cheaper the frame the more money I can dump into the canvas and paint.
