Invading Benihana sounds beyond hilarious. I'd totally have to change clothes though. I am not dragging karaginu mo across Diamond Boulevard! Oh, look, they've finally posted event copy to the Kingdom website at www.westkingdom.org/node/324I'm sure anything you would care to display would be welcomed by the A&S Minister!

Hrm... the Midnight Tournament sounds interesting if I can find a way to get my armor there and back. I can't imagine it would be a problem to find a greatsword to borrow. Perhaps I have two suitcases large enough for everything...

a) I changed my mind about the midnight tournament. The benefit seems pretty marginal, although it would be cool. Traveling light sounds better. b) I registered! Hooray! c) I'll bring a thing to put up as an A&S display. None of the official contest categories look interesting, but there's no way I'm coming this far and not showing something off. d) I now understand why Twelfth Night is an awesome excuse to make new clothes. Daimon hitatare kamishimo with my SCA household's conveniently round Scottish heraldry on it? Don't mind if I do...

d) I now understand why Twelfth Night is an awesome excuse to make new clothes. ;D As much as I make cracks about West Kingdom "Twelfth Night Con," it does provide an indoor venue where one is less likely to get too filthy, though the San Jose Doubletree should've comped me my room for the amount of crud I picked up on my hems the last time I stayed there.

Perhaps it would be best for us all to invade the Japanese steakhouse on Friday evening. That way we can still make a scene, but we won't have to deal with our very nicest clothing while eating or making the trip across the street.

I have a party (as opposed to a vigil) planned for Friday evening in the hotel, so a restaurant run for dinner is indicated, but will depend entirely on when folks arrive.

That way we can still make a scene, but we won't have to deal with our very nicest clothing while eating or making the trip across the street. Agreed. For Saturday night, given that dinner cannot happen until court is over anyway, I'm thinking of perhaps ordering in. (Maybe Chinese food? This place is nearby, delivers, and has some good reviews - www.allmenus.com/ca/central-contra-costa/58503-china-chef/menu/ ). Delivery is sometimes slow, but ordering as soon as court ends might still be faster than going out and would give some time to change out of court garb. The event site indicates some space is set aside as a "feast hall"? I have a party (as opposed to a vigil) planned for Friday evening in the hotel, so a restaurant run for dinner is indicated, but will depend entirely on when folks arrive. Well, when do you want to be back at the hotel? We can pick a time several hours previous to that for dinner. Lunar zenith is not until 10:15pm, which gives some flexibility. (I always feel silly planning stuff this far in advance, but it really doesn't work out well otherwise, does it?)

Oy. My head, she is spinning.
I need to talk to my party planners and see what they need to be able to do, but 5:30 or 6:00 would probably be optimum for a Friday dinner - again, assuming folks arrival times are copacetic.
As to Saturday, I expect my bit to take place during the morning court, just not certain what the batting order is at this point. I do not plan to spend my entire day in court inany event, so Saturday afternoon/evening is flexible. Ordering in is a possibility: they usually set up one of the conference rooms for us as a feast hall and we can claim a table or two if we like.

Abe and I will need to discuss if we are getting in Friday morning or Thursday night. It may depend on what tickets we can get, and what is planned.

Now we just have to get our damned clothing done...

I'm coming too! Gotta ... represent. Yo.
I'm not making new clothes. Alas, my (supportive but not actively SCAdian) beau will likely look better than I do since we're outfitting him out of Ishiyama-san's closet....
So, any advice for fabric stores worth a look while we're in the neighborhood? Don't find much silk in stores around here...ugly or not.
