Woo, looking sharp! I like the way the plaid from the kosode adds to the big-cat look by mimicking tiger stripes in this. Even if tigers aren't Lions. (:

...and the last bit: Lion hitatare sugata by tomlapille, on Flickr I did not dress myself particularly well, and the hat is a little sideways, but L5R people have lower standards than I do. :B

I like it, though. I have an obi almost identical to that one. I wear it with one of my modern kimono.

I plan on using this as the outermost kosode in the "drunk guy from Amusements at Higashiyama" outfit that I plan to enter in the An Tir Costuming Guild's tourney garb contest in June, to go with a lined dofuku that I have yet to make. OK. I laughed. You have the BEST Ichiroya shopping karma!

DUDE! If you don't want the Unicorn Kosode, I will totally buy it off of you for cost of materials and labor. PM if it strikes you as a deal.

Oh no, I'm definitely keeping it. I may need to NPC a Unicorn at some point, you know. I appreciate the implied compliment, though!

And here's yet another piece from this bunch. It's a little costumey, but it's the last piece I need to do before this summer's convention season, so I'll be back to SCA things soon. Another Liony kosode by tomlapille, on Flickr This thing is loud. If it weren't for the swoopy embroidered bits, it might feel Sengoku-ish enough, but those make it all wrong (I think). I was mainly going for loud, though, and this should fit the bill nicely. Ichiroya's pattern bolts can be finicky, as the pattern length isn't quite consistent across the bolt. That said, I managed to do a decent job with the matching this time: Another Liony kosode, sleeve attachment by tomlapille, on Flickr Another Liony kosode, back seam by tomlapille, on Flickr It took some thinking to figure out how to arrange everything so the pattern felt continuous, but I'm happy with how it turned out.

Someone call Austin Powers and ask him if his sofa is missing its upholstery! That'll definitely be fun with the lion kamishimo. ;-D

What is this "amusements at Higashiyama" painting? I can't find an online reference.

I found it in the book Japan's Golden Age: Momoyama. It's a fun piece, with tons and tons of things going on, although it's tough to see details on the two-page spread they give it.
