Wow! Really inspiring stuff! How has the gold edging held up in the long term? I saw that as of a year ago you mentioned having to re-glue it. Has it held up well since then?

Yeah, it holds up pretty well. We haven't had to replace any yet, but he only pulls the armor out for wars and tournaments, he does practices in a different suit. I would suspect that if this was your only suit you would have to change them out every year and a half or so (Depending on how anal you are with scratches and pealing), but they are cheap and easy to replace.

I got mine from Laces for Less but that was a few years ago, look up any place that sells shoe laces in gross and price around.
If I had the money I would do Rice Braid, though, which tends to be about 40% more per gross but the results are better and it is easier to work with.

Hi, I'm bilding my own armour following these steps. i'm at the dyeing stage. bought some black aniline power, and did the mix with hot water then added cold water. dipped the leather pieces and let them soak it up. To my surprise the front of the leather is dark blue and the back of the leather alost black. Has anyone had this issue? Does anyone have any suggestions? I only dyed half of the leather so i can go another path with them...or not Thanks for the help!
