I don't know of a pattern, so sorry. However, I know I could replicate a pattern had I a pair of them to copy. What materials were they made of?
I do not understand, though, their primary use; would you mind enlightening me?

They are peasant pants. Useful for those doing manual labor, especially in wet and muddy fields as they hug the leg close below the knee. They are also used by the light infantry ashigaru.

Thanks, Otagiri-dono---- that gives my mind's eye a better picture. I studied the links a bit more.... it looks like they would pinch in the 'wrong' places, and 'creep' in the others. Do you think the panels overlapped well enough for and aft to avoid such discomfort?
