Holy gym socks, Batman, you've got a tabi pattern! I was afraid I was going to have to take a seam ripper to my modern ones (which shrank in the wash) and use them to make a pattern. Now, do I have time to make some before Estrella? Domo arigato gozaimasu! Makiwara

Holy gym socks, Batman, you've got a tabi pattern! To quote the first sentence of that "pattern": This is not a pattern.I was able to make functional tabi using this as a basis and repeated approximations (about 5 as I recall). If you try this and it works for you with or without major mods, let me know ... You might be a first! Had I known about that Folkwear had a pattern I would have tried that first (and will still try it. 17$ tain't bad if it works!)

To quote the first sentence of that "pattern": This is not a pattern.Fair enough. Last week I cut out two piece uppers out of scrap fabric after tracing off my shrunken pair. (This means they're going to have a seam up the heel.) I figure between what I've got and your notes I should be able to come up with something - and will be more than happy to share anything I discover during the process. But I AM going to add you to the Japanese resource list on my website. ;-> M.

Scrapped the ones in progress with the heel seam and completed a new pair this morning , pretty much by cutting out pieces way too big and fitting them to my feet.
Now I won't be ashamed to be seen on the streets of Estrella.

I ordered a pair of Geta from this shop, and am very happy with them. www.karankoron.com/online_shop_top.htmlOne thing to look at if you are interested in making your own geta is their section on Hanao. You can order just about any size and style you want. Masahide

Got waraji in the mail today. Only took 5 days from Japan! They are quite nice and feel better than I though they would. The price wasn't too awfully bad, I think I paid just a hair over $50 after shipping. One question for you all with waraji, how long will these suckers last? They seem so dainty but often that can be deceptive. Just as a refresher, I ordered them from here www.e-budostore.com/accessory.htm
