Konnichi wa! I have read in several sources, not the least of which is the Tanki Yoriaku (specifically the Do Yoroi and Uwa Obi sections: www.rhinohide.cx/tousando/yoriaku/index.html), where it mentions hanamasubi knots (flower shaped knots) for tying uwa obis, as well as other cords of armor. I have found some references on the web that show several knots in the hanamasubi tradition (best I can tell is that these are at least now considered a style of knots, and not just a single knot form), but I have never found anything that shows the different forms or how to tie them. Does anyone have any information on this? Research sources? Directions for inquiry? any ideas anyone? In that general vein of thought... what is the proper way of tying ones obi, uwa obi, tabi, hakama, eboshi, etc? So far I have just used variations on the bow (dependent on size and space). Anyone have any insight into the proper methods for these items? 古楠
