Well, it looks like I can get the time off, it looks like I can book a direct flight from San Francisco to Kansas City. It even looks like they'll let me teach a class on kosode! Kass McGann is a featured lecturer and she will be teaching an overview on women's Japanese clothing. My question to the list is whether any well dressed Nihonjin might be in attendance, particularly the gentlemen? It is, after all, Costuming AND Rattan. (Dare I hope I might divert someone from the art of war to the art of looking spiff for a mere hour?) Kass is concentrating on women's clothes. Since the kosode is a unisex garment and the extant garments from the 16th century are known to have belonged to men, I think it would be great if I could show my students what male attire looks like. Volunteers may be paid with Tim's Cascade Style Wasabi Chips. (Sorry, no sake, the site is Bible Belt DRY!) www.dunard.org/KnownWorldCostuming/Index.htm is the event's website for those details published so far. In lieu of that, might any of you gentlemen be willing to share photos of yourself in Japanese splendour to be part of a teaching handout? Or possibly a pin-up calendar? ;-> (Just kidding about the calendar part. Well, maybe....) Think about it. She who must plan a campaign

You know, I didn't intend to leave the ladies out, it's just that this board is infested with so many males! If any of our ladies are interested in joining the peanut gallery either in person or by lending photographs, please get in touch!
