Very nice, the green stands out more than it sounded it would.

Status report: Paint touch-ups were finished last night - the white really benefitted from it.
Back seam and okumi (overlap panels) seams were done before painting. Okumi edges have been rolled and finished. Eri (collar) is stitched in place on one side, but needs to be pressed and blindstitched down on the inside. Sleeves need to be sewn and attached. Side seams need to be run up.
Ass deep in rich silk The hue of newly turned earth, She plies her needle. Though she hurries to finish, Each neat stitch tutors patience.
(That was crap. What do you want for 6 AM?)

greetings, I looked at your picture of the kosode. The flowers seem to be of the 5 petal variety, something on the order of a "bell flower" Would this be of any help? Ishikame kikkyou

Ishikame kikkyou Sorry, not at this point with all the painting done and the last stitch sewed ten minutes ago. If you read back through the thread, the most commonly known bellflower variety in Japan is blue. While there is a white variety, I could not pin down whether it was known in Japan at the time this painting was made or not . Other possibilities were cherry, deutzia, orange blossom, jasmine.... Mine are are "generic white flowers."

There is only one species in the genus Platycodon, and that is grandiflorus (you do see synonyms, but they are all P. grandiflorus). I think if it were bellflower even painted white, the flowers would be upright, rather than appearing as branches on a vine or shrub, and they would look more like five pointed stars rather than with five oblong dots as on Tosenin's kosode.

Those are great pics! I really love how the new piece came out! Heck, I'm happy with the fact that the altered flea market kimono doesn't look too small for me! I'll see if I can get more pics of the Tosenin kosode this weekend.

Why, yes, I suppose I am smirking a bit. After all, I am THE hottest thing at the Tanabata feast. (No chopsticks in MY hair, thank you very much.)
