It was very gusty today when I went out at lunchtime, so I grabbed the remains of the kite from the back of the truck and took it to the parking lot. Even with the damage from the weekend it flew, to the delight of the guys in the weld shop. I had one more crash, this time fatal.
But it flew! Hot damn, it flew like a charm.

Otagiri-dono, you inspire me, as always. May I include this on my poetry page?
Bamboo limbs strain A paper hawk leaps skyward, Challengin the wind. Half battle, half spiral dance, I cannot save it from death.

Otagiri-dono, you inspire me, as always. And you flatter me, Makiwara-hime. Despite the correct syllable count, the alliteration and leading verbs make this poem feel very non-traditional. You may use it as you will ... The ties that bind, loose In the winds of karma, leap Into the earth, lunge Some sail free and some sail not In the end, death take us all Hmmm... Is that any better?

Personally, I like your first impulse better. Those imperatives capture the restive pull of kite on string in a gusty wind.
Good stuff! M.

Thank you, Denka-sama, I so need some silliness this week. ;->
Though no trees were actually harmed in the destruction of Prototype #1 - just your friendly neighborhood gravity.
