Thanks so much for posting this! This is really, really good fabric.
The "Golden Turquoise" silk organza is spot-on correct for the ominaeshi (maidenflower) unlined robes worn by Heian ladies during the hottest part of the year. I have been looking for something like this for quite a while...there are lots of "iridescent" organzas out there, but most times the color isn't right, the fabric is synthetic, and/or the price is too high. This is IT. Wow!

Okay, I just received the organza I ordered...a little bluer than expected, but still absolutely gorgeous!
I will be the style diva of the Great Capital when the next hot season rolls around.

Guess what, the Gambler's sale has that organza at 35% off original price: $4.32/yard. www.fabric.com

24.5 yards of silk on the way!
Quote my wife: I could wear a potato sack made out of silk and feel beautiful in it.
(Actually, I'm not sure of the look and feel of the organza for uchigi ... I also ordered 24.5 yards of the linen-cotton mix. Lighter colors available. Nice that they have a no-hassle return policy...one of the two orders is going back.)

Lucky you - between the silk and the wool cashmere blends that Jehanne wants, except I just cannot justify buying any fabric right now....
Keep those cold, soulless rocks. SILK is a girl's best friend.

I'm kinda thinking it's going to be too thin. It's more for those summery, transparent things. Take a look at their selection of promotionally priced dupioni and request swatches - I think it's only 50 cents a swatch - you might find something suitable there. I've been buying from these folks for years. They're very good to deal with and they measure a yard at 37 inches just 'cause. S.

I realized that I could go up to 18" panels using 54" fabric, so ... I called fabric.com 's 1-800 number and changed my orders with no problems. Now I have 27.5 yards of linen and silk headed my way. Great customer service!
