Japan Woodworkers is literally a mile from my house. I'm afraid to go in there because it would be really easy to blow the rent money on their beautiful knives and tools. They have damascened kitchen knives!!!!! www.japanwoodworker.com/page.asp?content_id=2896S.

yes makiwara, but more importantly they have chisles... oh bachi-nomi are so nice... I want the complete set myself. thier ink pattern knives look nice, but they have some better ones that cost less because they are not quite so decorative.

Some years ago, Japan Woodworker was purchased by Woodcraft, a larger retail and mail order supplier of woodworking tools and supplies. The immediately shut the JWW retail location in Alameda, but kept Japan Woodworker as a distinct mail order and online store. They also started carrying a selection of JWW items in their retail locations, which is convenient if you happen to live near one of those. Recently however, Woodcraft announced that they were shuttering the Japan Woodworker brand entirely, and folding the catalog into the Woodcraft operation. I hope this means that more Japanese tools will be available in their retail stores, but we will see. In the short term, they are offering free shipping on orders over $50. I think I have spent my tool budget for the year already, but here's the offer if anybody needs it.
