I should have posted this earlier but I didn't think of it until now. There's a cook's guild meeting tomorrow and the theme is pickles. I'm going to bring my fake takuan/vinegar pickled daikon and some pickled plums I bought that have been sitting in the back of the fridge (they were packaged with bonito flakes and tasted too fishy so I rinsed them off and stored them in a new jar. I kind of forgot they were there until the other day). Besides onigiri, does anyone have any suggestions on serving these pickles? Or at least an interesting presentation?

Noble Cousin! Greetings from Solveig! Please say hello to Johanna Dudley for me if she is still running the Cook's Guild. I recommend that you simply do an oshinko presentation. Simply take your sliced pickles and arrange them in distinct single variety mounds in a common bowl or plate. This is very very classic.

Hmn.... And I was thinking of just chucking it all in a tupperware ;D
However, due to snow, I may not be able to make it to the meeting. We'll see if the subway feels like running tomorrow...

I'll dump them artfully into a tupperware (I don't really own any presentable dishes/serving implements. Most of my dishes have seen much better days. Though I wonder if a suribachi makes for an interesting dish...)

Well, for what it's worth I've found nice dishes at Costco World Market that would do quite nicely. Many of them are on clearance right now too.

Yeah, it's just me so there's really no reason to upgrade the dinnerware. I also ended up not going to the guild meeting because the weather was pretty icky and I had a pile of chores pop up out of nowhere.
