On a whim, if just to perhaps take a break from classwork, I decided to make a shell matching game.[1] Because obtaining many pairs of clamshells seemed impractical, I decided to make this game out of paper, resulting in clam cards instead. The 'subtle patterns' were made in photoshop using filters and the interiors contain colored dots and their names in Japanese and Romanji to make the game more accessible (and I only made 30 cards, if just because I ran out of colors that were easily distinguishable from one another). I hope this weekend to print it out, assemble the pieces and give it a playtest. However, I was wondering if anyone else would like to make their own set and play it as well, to work out any kinks. To facilitate this, does anyone know of any good, free file sharing sites? The cards are in a pdf form. [1]More information here: [1] "Shell Matching" www.lizadalby.com/LD/TofM_shells.html

I can play test it for you, I'm sure I can get my daughter to help.

Verrah kewl! I often thought about doing that. I wanted to get a perfect set of clamshells, take molds from them, and then cast 'em in resin and start painting. Maybe someday...

Cool! What would be the best method of distribution? The files are pretty big- I'll see if can condense them down enough for e-mail-but I think I'll find a hosting site. Google suggests mediafire... Stay tuned for links!

I get unlimited bandwidth and unlimited drive space on my hosting account. If it is a temporary file hosting thing for playtesting purposes, I'll offer up some website space for the cause. I can help playtest too. My friends love games like this. - Imagawa

Thanks! I really appreciate it!
Also, I am assembling the whole thing tonight. I think the best adhesive has been studiotac[1] (glue stick left some undesirable marks). The only downside is that studiotac isn't cheap- I just have piles of it from my alter ego's position as a graphic design student and thus there's specialized art stuff everywhere... (;

Update: I tried a new printing technique involving printing a large pattern on the back of a sheet and printing the interior of the shells on the reverse. This proved to be quite successful and easier in regards to the craft process (less cutting, no pasting). However, you have to have a rather reliable printer for this technique. Imagawa-dono agreed to kindly hosting the new files as well. (:
