About 8 years ago I had a 15-20 minute training video of a guy at Pennsic who was teaching a class on a japanese short pole arm, and I think he was a knight. He was wearing japanese garb, and he was very good with it. It was tactics specifically vs. sword and shield. The thing was probably a nagamaki or a short glaive. It was about 5.5 feet long and was about 50% blade. I had the video but lost it during a move. I searched youtube and the web- so far no luck? Does anyone have it or know what Im talking about? thanks!

I am not familiar with it, but I would like to be. If you (or anyone else) runs across it, share the link Arashi

Do you happen to remember from what kingdom the teacher was from?

I actually found the video on one of my archives. Unfortunately it is damaged and will not play. I am taking it to a professional data restoration center to try and repair it. When I do I will make it available.

That would be great. Our Sept. Crown, is going to force that issue for me. I have alwasy been good with all types of great weapons vs. great weapons, but sheilds (that don't smash apart, like they should) have always been my bane.
...and feel free to point me to any other such videos. I'll need all the help I can get.

Found it! It is actually a video from the Midlrealm on their site. It is located here: www.midrealm.org/kith/kith/So... can anyone tell me who the gentleman is who is teaching this class? It looks like he's knight and he obviously has a lot of experience. Enjoy everyone!

Noble Cousin! Greetings from Solveig! Which of the several video clips on this web site are you asking people to look at?

Hi Solveig - the video is called ""Duke Palymars Pole" Thanks Makiwara! I apparently underestimated the obvious Pallidus

I have already pegged you as a silly man: you stayed indoors yesterday making armor when you could have been enjoying a beautiful afternoon under a most hospitable tree, eating umeboshi onigiri, dried squid and mochidango with Daffyd-dono and me.
