Cross posted from my kingdom mailing list: Greetings Unto the Noble Populace!
Did you know that you can Pre-Register online for Estrella War XXVII for just $20 and save money on your entrance fee?
YOU CAN!!
Simply Pre-Register On-line or by Mail with a $20 Deposit and pay the rest at the gate, or in payments. It's that simple!!!
Now I know what you’re asking. "Why is it important to pre-reg when I can simply pay at the front gate when I arrive?" Good Question! Aside from saving you money on your entrance fee, your pre-registration dollars go towards many of the amenities we use on site during Estrella War.
For instance did you know that...
FACT: Pre-Registration helps ensure that the group you are camping with gets the needed amount of land. Make sure you’re not crowded in this year by having your group pre-register!!
FACT: Your Pre-Registration dollars allow us to obtain site amenities such as showers & privies, tents, chairs and tables, for use during Estrella War!!
FACT: By Pre-Registering for Estrella War, you help the staff estimate the amount of resources that will be needed on site. Whether its tables or chairs, assisted services, even trash and ash cans!
FACT: Pre-Registration allows you to enter the site one day earlier than those who pay General Admission provided you have paid in full prior to January 17, 2011.
FACT: Pre-Registration SAVES YOU MONEY! By pre-registering you save $20 off the cost of admission! So pay $20 now and save $20!! Makes sense right? Right.
Simply put, Pre-Registration helps make your Estrella War more comfortable, for more time, for less money. So take a few minutes to Pre-Register and ensure your place in History!!
Pre-Registration is open at: www.estrellawar.org/RegistrationFrontGate/PreRegistration.aspx

In case anyone's thinking, "It's the desert," this is what the Arizona desert can be like in February: Ruined my favorite merino wool socks in that, slipped and fell (unharmed) in the dark onto a pile of trash en route to a privy. On the up side, that was the first year Rising Sun camped as an entity and we not only didn't kill each other, we had a lot of fun.

We haven't forgotten. Times being what they are (i.e., "interesting"). I'm waiting to hear back from Yagyu-dono about where we may end up this year. I am prepared to go to the West Kingdom's land agent and request some space for us - and can be onsite as early as late-day/early evening of the Monday of war week to be camp-bugyo.
If you are planning on camping with Rising Sun, please email me at wodeford@yahoo.com so we can moving on this process.
Online pre-registration for the war closes next Saturday, January 15.

i can make all your land woes go away!! POOF!! you can camp with us !! black company would be thrilled to have you with us. as long as you can handle camping with dirty mercs like me? heehee... and if you can handle being relegated to the great northeast of camp where all the undesirables are ensconced. ( they dont like competing with our cookie making. dark side cookies are the bomb!) if not then ill pout unless you at least come and visit since you have always been extremely hospitable to me and mine.

i can make all your land woes go away!! No woes yet, tomodachi. The WK land agent is a friend of mine and she's happy to work with us. But thank you for the kind offer, of course. (Tries to envision pouty mercenary. Rubs cramp out of brain and stumbles bravely onward.) Mutual visitation is DEFINITELY expected. I already have two bottles of sake stashed for our traditional New Year's party on Thursday evening of war week. Watch this space for details as we have them.

OK, it's official, I will be taking the lead on Rising Sun and requesting land from the West Kingdom. acceps.ansteorra.org/index.php is still accepting online pre-reg for Estrella through this Saturday. When you do your pre-registration (last day to do so online is this coming Saturday), indicate West Kingdom as your kingdom and Rising Sun as your group. I also need to know who is coming so I can ask my land agent to save us space. Please message me here or email me at wodeford@yahoo.com with the following information: SCA Name: Pre Registration Number (if you have one): Tent type (Mundane, Period) Tent footprint, including ropes: Orientation of tent door (long side, short side) (to keep us from making the only space that your tent fits in be opening into the side of someones tent) Expected Arrival Date/Time: Obviously, the sooner I can furnish this information to my land agent, the happier she will be. If folks prefer to camp with their kingdoms or war units, that's fine. The House of Cheerful Monkeys will be there to welcome our friends - even the ones I haven't actually met yet.

Just got word that Rimwood, the usual onsite supplier of firewood, will not be at the war this year and there's no word on a replacement vendor yet. If you're camping, you may want to look for alternative sources.

UPDATE regarding firewood at site, we've gotten word from War Staff unoficially that wood will be sold out of Windrose Armory in the merchant area.
