11/29/10 (written last night, forgot to post it here) So much to write down Before it become jumbled: My students await. This unending day becomes Night as the clock tolls the hour.

I wish Katherine-hime would post the photos she has that go along with some of these tanka, as she has been doing on her Live Journal.

Er well... In addition to trying a tanka a day, the past two weeks I added to the difficulty by composing within the length of an eleven minute monorail ride just after school. So I posted by iPhone and since posting pics here via mobile is a bit... Well I didn't figure it out, unlike LiveJournal app and facebook. Will try and see what I can do later.

What about posting the link to your LJ tanka challenge entries, maybe? (she wrote, thinking guiltily about the fact that she doesn't own a smart phone and wouldn't have the first clue how to post photos from it.)

Some cling red and gold To bony branches, some fall in rustling brown piles. How can one choose among them When they are all beautiful?

As the month has come to a close (at least out here) I want to say that the poetry this year has been lovely, as usual!

Proboards won't let me play with the pics, how annoying.
It was fun, most of the time. Harder yet not to just write everyday about work, or sewing... Good experience on the whole.
Wish more people played!

My poetry is not so good, my apologies Given the fashion for writing poetry at the Imperial Court, I am certain that "not so good" poetry was fairly common. The exercise of trying to write a mere poem a day brings that home to me. Some days I'm inspired, some days, it's a struggle and I'm not happy with what I've come up with. Interestingly, sometimes I'll write something that feels clunky and forced to me and someone else reads it and likes it. Like anything, practice helps. I do hope you'll give it a try some time.

Intricate red tiles Star shaped are leaves underfoot Under the rain's glaze Lies fall's final decoupage Decorating my day's walk
Quite the thunderstorm today. It's going to winnow all the leaves down, more's the pity.

Empty, silent, dead Dirty rooms, no chairs or bed The company's done Questioning, the workers gone Where has all that money fled? Dedicated to the buildings of a complex of five company apartments. Probably Mitsubishi Heavy Industry's, they are at the same station. www.flickr.com/photos/crimsongriffin/5228512847/

Eyes squinting in sun Fingers deftly sift the pine For imperfection Needles snipped and fall away Leaving the grace of beauty The BonsaiFill the sink, immerse Until the bubbling ceases: Sunday's ritual. Five months it has graced the house Without me having killed it.
