Seeing as Lash-dono and I are trying to lure Buntaro-dono into attending, it's probably time to post the link to the war event site. www.caid-gww.org/Land allocation and pre-registration are open through 8/31. Class proposals are accepted up until 8/15. Hmmm, what should I teach? It's a nice little war at a site on a lake about a half hour from Bakersfield (2 1/2 hours from LAX). And of course, the House of Cheerful Monkeys will be offering its traditional hospitality on Saturday evening.

Who's going?
Due to work developments, I was only able to submit a class for Saturday and that will be taiko.

Selaamlar, arkadashlarim!
I'll be spending a large amount of time loitering around a friend's booth at Great Western, but since Friday night has been deemed Midnight Madness, the word from the boss is that we'll be having an impromptu cocktail party at the booth 630Pm to whenever.
I'd love to meet more of my Nihonjin friends in person, so consider yourself invited to stop by and visit.

For those of you who do not know the estimable Gürcü Iskender (AKA sashakhan), he is well worth knowing, as is "the boss" and the other ladies at Cok Guzel. I'll definitely go visiting.
Also, the House of Cheerful Monkeys will be the guests of the Shire of Al Sahid and helping celebrate the marriage of Katayama Hiromoto and the lovely Lady Jane on Saturday evening, darkish.
And there will be Taiko 101 on Saturday afternoon. Check the A&S class listings and sign up early - I only have room for so many drums in the truck.

Let me know if I may contribute in any way to the treats and general fun at the House of Cheerful Monkeys.

Domo-arigato. I'm glad to see that the weather will be lovely the day after I show up just to make sure that all my stuff gets soaked. I'm afraid my last event's weather is still following me around. I leave tonight! Be safe in your travels my friends!

It's supposed to be nice Friday through Sunday, though. If you've not been before, the site is on a lake, plenty of grassy areas and shade trees.

The fire has burned low Yet still we sit sharing cups And conversation. How quickly the moon hastens To set on the gleaming lake. Home safe, clean, tired and very happy. Had a great time teaching taiko. Traded a small bottle of absinthe for tea in the continuing omiyage death-spiral with Baron Vail from the Far West. (Either I don't even notice the accent anymore or he's getting more confident about his English.) Got to meet Nana-hime, two lurkers from Calontir who promise me they may actually get on the boards and post something one of these days, poured sake for a nice little crowd beneath the eaves of the House of Cheerful Monkeys, admired Pallidus' and Takeshi-Ko's too-preeety-to-die-in new armor live and in person, and seem to finally have convinced Lash-dono that I'm not too snooty and high tone to associate with the likes of him and his friends. Thanks to the folks of Dragon's Gate for their hospitality and to Katayama Hiromoto and his lady, Jane, for theirs. Didn't take many photos, but the ones I got are at www.flickr.com/photos/70104978@N00/sets/72157627734122327/with/6229374562/
