So... putting an SCA dagger in my sash just messes up the fit of my breastplate when I draw the dagger. Anyone got a good solve for this?

I always suspended a piece of PVC tube from the back of my belt, and stuck the dagger in that.

I have a 4 inch piece of pvc pipe that has two parallel cuts in it for my obi to pass through, and is sliced open along its length - a little experimentation was needed to find the best amount of plastic to remove for the optimum combination of grip and release. I covered the whole thing in the same fabric as my obi. It works pretty well - I just grab the tanto and pull it away from my body - I'd had problems with scabbards or just "belt-thrust" not releasing cleanly when I needed the dagger/tanto in a hurry but this works for me.

Ohhh you mean for rattan fighting....
mine used to sit just fine in the back of my obi ready for draw OR a glaive knight once showed me how he had his dagger with a short lanyard attached to his wrist at all times and all he had to do was turn his hand down and the dagger would be in his hand ready to go... very quick and sneaky
