Title: Exquisite: Paintings of the 11 & 13th Centuries Published By: Nara National Museum Year Published/Copyright: 2007 ISBN (Hardcover): n/a ?? Pages Total: 254 Language: Japanese mostly, there is an English section on oneside of the book that English readers would consider the front, and the Japanese would consider the back. the English section provides information on many of the full color photos of the paintings.
Review: Even though most of this book is written in Japanese, this book will still be a great tool for anyone doing research on asian paintings from this period. Most of the paintings are Japanese, and are presented in this book in full color on glossy pages. I am not a verteran of paintings from this period, all the same I saw what seemed to be many novel subjects and stunning examples.
Thoughts: If you are interested are looking to learn more about asian paintings between the 11th and 13th centuries this book will be a stunning resource. The pages tend to be in full color gloss. Though the book is not in english, it is mostly a visual reference. Topics in the paintings within this book range from Hell, to Gods, to Court, to daily life.
