Through May 27, 2013 at San Francisco's Asian Art Museum, several members of the famous Qin Dynasty terra cotta army (and horses), as well as a number of artifacts dating from the preceding Warring States period are on exhibition. www.asianart.org/exhibitions_index/terracotta-warriorsPhotography without flash is allowed and I got some decent shots despite the lighting conditions. www.flickr.com/photos/70104978@N00/sets/72157632960833488/If you think about the actual numbers of figures sculpted, the level of detail is mind boggling. It's obvious that the master sculptors were modeling the faces on real people. Well worth your time if you can get to San Francisco in the next couple months.

Actually, they brought the same thing to the East Coast a few years ago; keep an eye on the Smithsonian and Met websites (or whatever museum is closest to you).

According to adds which have started popping up in the last few days in Switzerland, a similar exhibition will be 'over the pond' with us in Europe, starting next week and going till November 2013. Seems like the Chinese national museum rents clay-soldiers out to several museums this year!
