I've been very lazy this winter but I got my motivation back!
I've finished all my fabric portions. Ive finished The Suneate, Waraji, and a Raven banner. I Found a stool and a Fan as accessories.
Now I just need to get my hands on my brothers drill press.
Ill post pictures as I go once I get a new cell phone.

Hey Jon, I got side tracked with my armour too, but am starting up on it again.
If you have access to a drill press, I would suggest using it to drill multiple plates. Like the kusazuri. Mark your pattern on the top plate then use vice grips to clamp the others and drill them all at once. I was using a metal punch for one plate at a time and it took forever.

Here is my kit so far. I have to find a way to make the chain mail for the Kote. With the Do plates and the lacing holes I know they have to be 2.5" away from each other but are they all parallel with each other or do they change angles?

Just to try and keep these threads alive and not as dead, this is looking good. I cannot wait to see more progress. Is it going to be all black?or will there be some color in the lacing?

With the Do plates and the lacing holes I know they have to be 2.5" away from each other but are they all parallel with each other or do they change angles? This is another instance where using poster board templates helps a lot. i was very intimidated by this part, figuring out where to place the sets of holes. The bottom most plates are slightly less wide than the upper, lay out the holes on these lames first. Work your way up with the spacing between the sets of holes expanding as the lames get wider. It won't be by a whole lot. i spent hours with my templates, a ruler, and a piece of scratch paper crunching the numbers on my measurements before I punched holes in the dô. I'm not sure that I did it the most authentic way, but it looks pretty good. The goal is is have the dots and lines of the sugake appear to flow in a straight line, even though it isn't exactly straight. After doing a lot you will get a feel for it. When I laid out the holes for my shikoro, which has even more expansion from top to bottom, I'd begun to just eyeball it. I took measurements occasionally, to confirm my eyeballing, but mostly went on looks. Good luck!

Yeah everything will be black except for the Mon and some hardware. Thank you very much Mega Zenjirou Yoshi its starting to make sense in my head! Im going to add feathers onto the Kote similar to this Karasu Tengu picture. They will be Canadian goose feathers dyed black. So they will be strong

I bought a pad of graph paper with quarter inch squares and made my templates with that then laminated them . I then punched my hole with a paper punch so that it could be used to outline on plastic.I was able to add all the sizes of sode , kusuzuri and nodawa on one piece . this allowed me to only have to put a few holes in my poster board mock up to hold it together. is this for sca or other combat or decorative? Magnus has the right of it for hole drilling. you can also use a whitney punch but if you do it has to be altered so you can absolutely see where your punch goes thru your material by gring the face to a point around the punch itself.
