Before sunrise I awake and warm the iron to start the day's work. How much I hate being told; how firm I am when it's me.

23 Nov
No wind could ever chill a heart filled with the warmth of good fellowship; Strangers are only strangers If we let them remain so.

The day's duties done, It is time to douse the lights And seek a warm bed. Perhaps tomorrow will bring A new adventure or two.

For a change I sleep soundly and through the whole night. Well rested, I wake and greet the new day calmly. Snow frosts the world. Coffee warms.

Oops, miscounted a line. 11/24/13 Against the pre-dawn sky a star falls behind the trees. Breath clouds the cold air. Frost silver-gilds the grasses. A welcome moment of peace.

Month's end approaches. No more blank Monday pages. The last Sunday done. I've failed this time, but come far. This challenge month's start recedes.

25 Nov Heaven's rosy cheeks Blush upon the horizon, Timidly waking. Gently lifting the curtain The sun rolls back the cold night.

Downstairs the clock chimes, Telling me to seek my bed. Yet here I still sit. Inspiration fails to strike As I struggle with these lines.

Snow coats the grass and hangs from the overhead wires. Good thing I brought some work home with me yesterday. I can work here, and stay home.

Outside an old hut Where salt fires are burning An old woman sits. How many of our stories Will never again be told?
