Does anyone have experience shooting bamboo arrows? a set of instructions has recently come across a facebook feed I am on, and as an archer I find this interesting. My kingdoms DEMLW and I have discussed the option of building and shooting bamboo (o.k. he has been trying to encourage me to buy one of Jaaps yumi from 3rivers, and shoot more traditional Japanese) but as I am just a membership renewal away from becoming a warranted live weapons marshal, I am interested in the technical side of shooting bamboo...
in your opinion what should a marshal look for when inspecting bamboo as opposed to looking at a wooden shaft? I know of no archers n my part of the kingdom shooting bamboo yet, so i am not too sure any of us would know what to look for during inspection beyond the normal (any obvious splitting, loose tips or nocks, fletching coming loose)...
what differences might one expect when shooting bamboo?

Sorry for the slow response, I haven't been too frequent on here lately. The only real difference I know of is in the making of bamboo arrows. They are a bit of a pain compared to wooden arrows to make, but once finished are about the same. Just look for splinters and the obvious and make sure they aren't really narrow and are sturdy enough to be fired. I really haven't found a lot of differences in shooting bamboo vs wooden personally. They feel pretty similar to me.
