Having made a sca fencing katana using an alchem inc blade and kind of figuring they make them out of 1/8" flat stock, I start wondering what it would take to make one my self. Challenging the antir blade list is something elss but has anyone tried to make a fencing blade just buying the steel and going at it? So far the only sourc I found sells 1075 Steel in 1/8 inch sheets but has them in big chunks, not 36 by 1 1/2" pieces like I want. I would have to sell a,dozen bastard sword blades to pay for the material so I am not there yet, and I don't even know if it is spring tempered.

The issue you are going to have is getting the correct "Temper" to the steel. First step is going to be finding out what is the standard for the blades and then the temperatures needed to achieve that temper.
If you don't have access to a kiln that heats to specific temperatures there are places out there that will do it for you (with better results probably because they have high end equipment).
