While I was checking my email this afternoon I found I had received an email from Dharma about the new pre-colored silks they've begun to carry, they currently only have three types of silk in the pre-died type, but quite a few colors that look very similar to the colors in the kasane sets. www.dharmatrading.com/html/eng/19694441-AA.shtmlmostly what I'm wondering is if these colors actually are close to the colors meant in the kasane or if my computer/eyes are fooling me. I got that email, too. This page has larger photos of (most of) the colors - www.dharmatrading.com/html/colored-silks-are-here.shtmlI don't think you can ever be sure that any color you shoot for is exactly what was intended, even within dye lots from the same mill. These sure would save a lot of time hovering over dye pots, especially for the garments of many layers. The dharma page that caught my eye recently, that I don't know if I ever noticed before, is this one - www.dharmatrading.com/fabric/silk/spun-silk-broadcloth-23-45.htmlI ordered some, and it's great stuff (arrived yesterday). 23 momme is about 3 ounces, which gives it the weight of a good cotton muslin. It's not glitchy the way lighter habotai is. I think this is going to make some super garments and banners.

I had seen those, but was unsure if they'd be too weighty for the look we're trying to imitate. I have heard others say that broadcloth is a closer approximation then habotai to period silks, but then was concerned and confused over the momme weights. the broadcloth on Dharma is 23mm and the fuji braodcloth on silk connection is 19mm, which one of those is closer? I understand what the momme weights mean but then don't know what cloths I have encountered in person they'd have similar feels to, so that comparison you gave is very helpful to me. thank you.
