Melancholy has Come knocking at the doorway Of my heart again But the deer's lonely cry is Just carried off by the wind

The house sits quiet, servants sent safely away, and we sleep knowing much may happen tomorrow, but at least that's not tonight.
(Still having electrical problems in the house. Last night we shut off every circuit but the one that the furnace is on.)

November 23 The moon
I see that great orb Illuminating the world in the frigid night, As the lunar lagomorph Pounds his mochi in the sky.

I hasten homeward, Bags stuffed with delicacies For the coming feast. A cold eyed moon watches as I rummage for my car keys.

Dinner out goes a long way towards convincing us that it's possible life will return to normal. A glass of wine sure does help.

The smell of wood smoke Hangs upon the autumn air In a twilight haze I want to be young again Kicking through piles of leaves!

Midnight blue sky blends into a yellow sunset. A few stars twinkle. Pale yellow, a full moon floats above black, silver-rimmed clouds

Dawn brings a new pang And I cannot be sure how I have come by it. Why is my calendar marked In aching joints and lost friends?

Sweet, sorrowful child What care we what the world says? The world is an ass Like angels, we must learn to Breathe the air of higher places

Such a simple thing caused us so many problems? Such an obvious answer was so hard to find? New light shines in autumn air.
[Our electrical problem was determined to be a "weak neutral line" from the pole. Solved after a week of unreliable power. Sigh.]

Gleaming like rubies, Wet leaves carpet the front path Between house and street. All this treasure is good for Is wet hems and poem grist.

It makes bad things small when there is so much to be very thankful for. This season always reminds, pay attention to the good.

Today of all days I should be grateful and count My many blessings Yet I sit here alone with The cold prairie winds howling

Distance separates us from each other, but here where distance has no meaning, we are together. Thank you all, my distant friends.
