Title: What is JAPANESE ARCHITECTURE?, A survey of traditional Japanese architecture By: Kazuo Nishi and Kazuo Hosumi Translated, adapted, and with an introduction by: H. Mack Horton Produced by: Kodansha USA, Inc. (April 15, 1996) Language: English ISBN-10: 4770019920 ISBN-13: 978-4770019929 My cost: $12.00 Pages: 144 Period: Yes! - See My Thoughts below. Amazon Link: www.amazon.com/What-Japanese-Architecture-Survey-Traditional/dp/4770019920My Thoughts: A great book to begin your exploration of Japanese architecture and does not disappoint. This book is more about breadth than depth. The overview of the various styles within their time periods is great. Line work diagrams, sections, and perspectives are included on every page (minus the Introductory pages). There is even a 3D paper cutout for tea houses should you feel brave enough to remove it from the book! The back of the book includes source Bibliography, additional info on the sites included within the text, museums to visit, Index, and an Architectural Chronology. I would recommend this to those looking to expand their overall knowledge of the subject matter.

There are some used copies with ridiculous asking prices. Regardless, it looks like a good book, so I ordered a copy a few minutes ago.
