Hara and I just returned from the 4th International Conference on Braids, which was held last week in Iga Japan. I was run by the 'Kumihimo Society' of Japan, and co-sponsored by the 'Braid Society' of the UK and the 'American Kumihimo Society' of the US.
The conference was dominated by traditional kumihimo of course, but there was a lot of worldwide and more modern information available.
The next conference will be in 2022 in Denmark, so start planning now if you're interested.
In addition to the conference, we spent some time around Iga (the Danjiri festival was mostly cancelled due to rain, unfortunately) and in Kyoto. I got a bunch of pictures of the current exhbit at the Costume Museum, so you can look forward to seeing some of those.
