From yesterday: OasisWar2012_0048 by depercy, on Flickr I really need to get on making kote. Those bazubands are great for fighting, but a little awkward for appearance.

The wolf fur was a gift from a fellow samurai personae that I incorporate in all of my armor. It started as a shoulder piece, and now it covers the boring hardened leather carapace that protects my 5th vertebrae. Lash is standing next to me in his incomplete, but still oh-so-sexy-suit. After three days of busting my ass on the field...everything was breaking. Both kneecops blew out during the sunday rez battle (and our waterbearers only had green duct tape). Toggles on the sode broke when Big John of the Orkney Warband tagged me with his spear. He also blew a rivet on my left side when his spear slid past my armpit, into, and then out of the bottom of my armor when I charged him afterward. Hardest fights of my SCA career - Sunday Ressurection battles at Estrella War.

I know a couple of guys on our team, I'm proud that they made the trip out. You can tell that they never really fought together as a team before the competition though. Hopefully next year they can get some time to train together first.

I have a couple of friends on Team USA so I've watched pretty much everything they have done. I'm hoping with the amount of practice they are puting in this year they'll do better at the next Battle of Nations.
