i'm guessing at about 400 yards of lacing for a complete suit or armor... (sparce point laced) does that seem like it would be enought?
i've also got an idea that would increase the ridgidity of sparce point laced dos
it calls for a little more overlap like 1/8" or so but should make the body of the armor more rigid
in the Mogami style armor
drill 2 extra holes per set at the bottom of the plate in line with the hole already drilled for sparce point lacing...
lace normally
then go back through with some waxed thread and carefully push it under the lacings and out the back... then 'stitch' the first plate to the second and so on...
or simply put another hole trough the center of the x and carefully rivet it in place
thoughts suggestions?
i'm also going to be making my armor out of HDPE plastic

For kebiki, as a rough order of magnitude, assume the full length of the scales X the number of scales. For a do maru + sode of Noble kozane, that would be ~2000 x 2.75" ~= 152 yards of lace. I would probably order 33% more as CYA for a total of 200 yards.
You can do the same sort of calculation for sugake if you already laid out the "knot" locations. # Knots x ~height of plate = ~ length of lacing. For a tosei gusoku, you need to include extra length defining kusazuri <-> do (yurugi ito) since that would likely be longer than the height of a plate.
Note that these are estimates. I haven't finished lacing anything recently enough to verify them.
