Since I have recently learned how to weave Roping, recently as in this morning, my mother, Rizii, has told me to weave my own laces for the armor. So I require some assistance. (Not personal assistance, mind you, just Information.)
How long of laces will I need (That is, individual strands, not the finished product.) to lace armor for a 5'3, 119 pound Bushi? And how many Laces?

That depends greatly on what type of armour you lace. Weave the lace for a kebiki domaru, and you will be drinking man before you finish!

Don't let him off easy, now, lol..... if he won't clean his room, he's gotta make his laces..... if he cleans, I buy. The clothier seminar in November up here also has a kumihimo ---- I can learn some kewl stuff and teach the bushi ---- I'm looking forward to making the silk cords that hold the obis on. www.geocities.com/stg63541/CSClasslist.htmlChuckling, Rizii

Kumihimo won't do you much good as odohi is flat.
I've tried the (essentially) loop braiding technique from Samurai Undressed, but it doesn't seem to work.
I have worked out a 16 ply pattern that I've used to do some multicolored mimi-ito before (some feet of it). It's not all that hard, but takes a long time to get enough to lace anything.

So, honored sensei of the Barrel Way, do you suggest that I make him clean his room and order out for the lace?
Actually, I have a long range plan in mind, but simply one of passing on the skill of cord/braid making to his peers. It will be good exercise for his brain.

Probably easier to have im braid than clean. Working out how to make a braid is brainwork. Actually doing it isn't.
