Drilled ~1600 holes and cut out a mess of parts but sadly ... nothing seems to be completed. These will be my first sode. The kote sleeves may be too large for Yamamura-dono. As might the kote splints. I can resize them if needed. I was originally going to cut the kote and suneate 'plates' into 'splints' and then lace them into a solid piece - but I might just go with scoring the 'plates' to make them look like composite pieces. Lots and lots of things unfinished!

So how does it feel to be a kept woman? Ahem. Those rug burns on my knees are from cutting out fabric, Smartagiri-dono. ;-> The lined jacket alone involves thirty two separate pieces, NOT including the boned bodys - which I'm thinking I'm going to do as a separate piece rather than sewing it into the coat. That's another 8 pieces. Japanese clothing is SO much simpler. M.

Knee and Elbow pads on Saturday. Rewelded a bascinet to be used for a momonari-kabuto on Sunday. Got a beginner's pattern for gauntlets on Sunday as well.
Yamamura-dono painted the dou/kusazuri/sode/guruwa this weekend and is waiting for lace. I will give him the 7 pair I have tonight ...
Will the remaining lace make it in time?
Two weeks and two weekends left ... (tic) ... (tic) ... (tic) ...

If you find yourself short on lace and even shorter on time let me know, I've got quite a bit lying arround in a variety of colors.

Well ... time is nearly up. I will not be able to finish the armour and the kabuto by Sunday - so to be able to still claim this is a '30 day' armour - I am putting the kabuto aside (a grilled momonari) to try to complete the rest of it (assuming I can get Hiroyuki-dono to relenquish it and Ryokai-dono lends me the necessary lace as mine has still not arrived ). I hope to finish the tekko tonight! This is a plastic version of a gauntlet pattern from Master Mael Mardane of Dragonsspine. The thumb floats free inside a large thumb piece. I have been warned it may not be a great pattern for pole weapons but haven't tried it out yet. I have started the grill for the kabuto but have not yet put the bars into the grill frame. Ld. Mathias Feldmaus of Dragonsspine performed the extra welding the bascinet required (replacing the spot welds the helm originally held).

Did we meet the deadline Otagiri-dono? Nope. I think today is day 37. But we are close to finished ... very close. I think I'll go work on armour now and stop surfin' the web.

Pattern for armour stand ( www.sengokudaimyo.com/katchu/katchu.html ): www.sengokudaimyo.com/katchu/graphics/patterns/stand2.PDFOops ... I didn't make a place for the total product, so for now I'll just post these here. And, yeah, the pics are fuzzy. I'll get my camera stand out and replace these sometime. So whats left at Day 38? Padding. The spray glue I tried using doesn't seem to do the job. Kusazuri I don't know if I have enough lace even with Ryokai's generous loan. Laces for Less may have dropped my phone order. I will be calling them today. Mimi Ito I planned on using some mimi ito on the sode/guruwa/kusazuri but have the same lace snafu as above. Tekko This design is new to me and not normally done in plastic. I'm not convinced that these are combat ready. Sizing/Fitting This armour is way too small for me. I haven't got Hiroyuki's skinny frame into yet to check things like the kote and sode hang. Kabuto and Men Work has begun but I am a long way from finished.

If the spray adhesive becomes too much of a problem shoe goo works pretty well with both open and closed cell foam. Also if you dont want to go that route I have a sheet (9"x22") of black 1/4" closed cell foam with a fairly strong adhesive backing that I dont mind parting with.
