I can't tell for sure from the photos, but it looks like the leather panel is hard plastic. It's supposed to be really flexible (it wraps around the ankle, after all). You definitely want to use something supple there.

The leather panel is just that: black leather. It is supple and happy to wrap around my leg.
They held up just fine while fighting yesterday. I am pleased with them.

Ah, good. In the photos, it had the same contrast as the splits, so I thought you used the same material.
Well, that and I'm trying to get used to new contacts. Twitch.

I got some kanagu mawari curved. Kanagu mawari, curved by tomlapille, on Flickr I began to attach them tonight: Kanagu mawari attachment in process by tomlapille, on Flickr It's pretty amazing how much more solid this thing is once all of the plates are attached. It's not done yet, and I'm going to have to redrill a few of the holes in them to get them to line up correctly. However, I'm unstuck, and I'm pleased with the way this turned out, even in plastic.

Here are some sode. Sode, complete by tomlapille, on Flickr There's not as much of a lip as there is supposed to be on the kanmuri ita here, but this is the best I could get one piece of plastic to behave.

Here is a nodowa. The part that is supposed to be leather is leather; the rest of it is plastic. Nodowa by tomlapille, on Flickr I'm not happy with how the leather panel is attached to the top piece, but I couldn't figure out how to get the folded-down effect with the curved lip. The leather simply was not cooperating with me, so I just did this.

The leather's probably just too thick. The originals were reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeealy supple and thin stuff.

Yeah. I was just thinking this morning.... At what point in our lives did "you suck" become a GOOD thing?

I was just thinking this morning.... At what point in our lives did "you suck" become a GOOD thing? I may be mistaken, but I believe you started this tradition. Though you did avoid using it on me for an awfully long time, substituting "weasel words" along the line of "I have to hate you now" or something to that effect.
