Saw this on another site I frequent thought others might enjoy. For me it is fascinating to watch a master at his craft.

Tsuba can be amazing works of art. Generally, the Koshirae (fittings) of a good sword are as valuable as the blade itself. This guy is impressive.

Four months he spent on that project. It gives one a great respect for the period koshirae smiths, doesn't it? They didn't have things like that fancy microscope setup he was using....

Unbelievable. I never really got what a big deal tsuba were until I saw this. Thank you for posting it. I can picture an old samurai sitting by the fire at night examining his sword tsuba. Also sharing with his buyu and examining their tsuba. It would be like medieval youtube!
