I have a small antique tsuba, made for a tanto. It has a mei on it, but I have not been able to translate it. Been asking for help on several forums, thought I'd try here, too. First, an enhanced photo of the mei (this was the best I could do in my photo editor): Front and back of the tsuba: I'm pretty sure the top kanji (the one that looks sort of like a square with a cross at the botttom and a line in the middle) reads "shige", but I'm not certain of the other one. Any educated guesses on this puzzler?

You mentioned that you were posting on several fora. Have you tried Sword Forum? They have rather a collection of nihonto fanciers there.
