Title: Hokusai, One Hundred Poets By: Peter Morse Price: Retails $95 , I bought mine at the Borders going out of business sale for $12...good luck! Size: Massive, large coffee table art but with 222 pages Period: Info dating back to 700ad, lots of Heian period and the likes ------------ Talk about a great art book! This book is packed full of art depicting various historical scenes. The art and block prints are not the true value of this book, so much as all the ancient poems and info about the poets dating back to the likes of even the Heian court. If you are into historical Japanese Poetry this book as a must as it has info about poets, many famous poems, and insight into the famous poems included in this book.

A good "companion" to this book would be Mostow's "Pictures of the Heart". It's another translation of the 100 Poets but each poem is accompanied by commentary on how the poem was illustrated in various media, such as playing cards and kimono as well as illustrations.
