There are a couple of interesting things to note in the pictures, especially the last picture of the set that shows one of the sleeves.
Look how big the stitches are that attach the sleeve to the body. You can see the white of the background between them. That probably isn't due to this being a costume piece, since if anything I'd expect the stitching to be heavier on a costume. That's food for thought.
I also notice that the sleeve-end braids are applied like trim and don't pass through any loops or holes at all. That is probably due to this being a costume. The braids don't even end at decorative knots, they just pass inside the seam at the bottom of the sleeve, so the cord probably was applied first and the sleeve sewn second. I've seen these cords applied as trim on historical suikan, but only for children. Anyway, it might pass if you're in a hurry.
