Title: Classical Japanese Prose - An Anthology By: Helen McCullough Pages: 578, mostly text with a few block print style images Period?: Very! From the 7th to the 16th centuries! Amazon: www.amazon.com/Classical-Japanese-Prose-An-Anthology/dp/0804719608"Would that I might show the reflection on my sleeve left from that dawn parting when my lord himself felt grief such as he had not known." - Confessions of Lady Nijo (1200s) My thoughts: Tons of period writing, poetry and insight. This entire book is just a wealth of period writing. I have not fully read this book, but even at a glance I can see that the stories are from period and rich in information. The books author has many foot notes, and little gems of insight scattered through the book. This is a long read, with most of the stories written being about the courts and life of people.
