Once again, it's time to show how my project is progressing. It's still going quite slowly, but I like how it's coming along. I hope you do too! Last week, I laced the 4th ita to the (still "naked") front part of the do: The ita don't line up (neither with the hinge nor with each other) the way I want them to, but I hope they will, once they are coated in epoxy and stiff. The only thing holding them in place right now are the tomegawa, and I can't tighten those enough to line up the ita perfectly... makes me a little sick to look at this mess As always, feedback is welcome and appreciated!

Two weeks ago, I bought a little something that should prove quite useful: a (second hand) male dress form. Chest and waist measurements resemble my own - unlike the belly, which is... more flat. Anyways, way more important is the fact that I finally laced up all of the front lames of the dou and cut the hinges to the appropriate length. What do you guys think about that "belly shape"? Between the current lack of watagami and the absence of a backside of the do I obviously had to cheat a little... And the connection to the hinges still looks terribe: But I hope to take care of that in the process of coating, as mentioned before. Really hate looking at this spot... By the way, there's something missing on that dou front. Who can tell what it is? Next up: making the backside of the dou, which is two pieces as I am working on a sanmai haramaki dou here. I have 2 x 3 lames of the 4-lame-tateage that I finished before I got started on the front parts, so that's a little headstart there.

Now that you have the basic form (color me jealous), you could make a "belly prosthesis" for it fairly easily. Do some searching for "duct tape dress form" to get the general idea.
