Hello! I am Fujiwara no Yuuko (mundane name Malinda), and I play a Japanese persona. I just joined the society officially last year (I'd been a silent lurker for a few years before that) and I like to do lots of research. It's lucky that I work at a public library and also have access to the local university academic library, this makes it easy for me to obtain materials from all over the world through Interlibrary Loan (if your local library has this resource, check it out! It's really neat!).
My persona's period is the Heian (which means I'm going to have to sew a lot of layers). I've read the Tale of Genji and the Pillow Book, and I'm currently going through several academic books on the period too.
My goal is to get all the Japanese players in the Known World to work on one big project together! My idea is to create something more than a 'camp' for some future Pennsic (though I know there's a fantastic Japanese encampment, I'll definitely be visiting it in search of project recruits!), but a miniature version of Heian-kyo (complete with cleverly-disguised-plywood 'city walls' and realistic-looking 'buildings' with solid roofs that can be taken down and stored in a trailer or a storage space when not in use). This is of course allowed because Heian-kyo was itself a miniature version of Chang'an. I think it would be lots of fun, and since each participating group would end up with their own solid but portable Japanese pavilion in the end that they could use at other events (or even as a location for other events), it would obviously be a win-win.
I have lots more detailed plans for the mini-Heian-kyo (except for a proper name for it), but I won't go into them here. I hope to get to know everyone better!
Dozou yoroshiku onegaishimasu!
