I got stuck on the tehen. The opening on the top was about three inches. Add another 1/2 or 3/4" from rivet hole to rivet hole, which is much wider than this late period helm should have. So I looked at a couple of options, didn't like the look of them, and waited. Nothing but compromises. Thought of a new option yesterday while I was playing hookie from work due to spring snow and put a circular plate inside the helmet to which I riveted the top edge of the plates. Now I can use the 3" tehen. It looks better than my previous options, but still isn't right. Oh well. Better a helmet with some aesthetic and authenticity problems than no helmet at all.
Your hands don't really get warm hammering rivets in a 15 degree shed.

Shikoro mostly riveted on. Waiting to do the mazibashi until I know what I am doing for the face.
115 flush rivets.
It looks like it will just fit. A bit snug, but not too bad.
Now to work out the grill or menpo.

Otagiri-dono, I have not had a chance to chime in here lately, but the pics you have shown are real nice...I think you have quite an upgrade on your hands! Nice job! MORE PICS! PICS OF YOU WORKING! PICS OF YOU THINKING ABOUT ARMOR WORK! PICS OF YOU TAKING PICS OF YOUR ARMOR!! PICS OF YOU THINKING ABOUT YOU TAKING PICS OF YOUR NEW ARMOR... (Sorry - I just slipped back into the "Return to the Planet of the Apes" movie of my youth...forgive my enthusiasm!

I was at the movie "Take the lead" and during a scene with Antonio Banderas, I suddenly just focused in on his nose, the shape of it, the flare of the nostrils. It filled my universe for a moment. It may have been my first experience of 'artists eye'. Too bad my skills will never match my vision. ;D My first raised ridge. I've just started it, its nowhere near finished.

In drawing and painting, the trick is to draw what you actually see, not what you think you see, in order to reduce something three dimensional to two dimensions. Since you are trying to make something three dimensional, you will actually have an easier task. Drawing a nose is a lot harder than sculpting one.
May I say these look very nose-like!

From the 1987 film "Roxanne: "
C.D. Bales: [challenged to think of twenty jokes better than "Big Nose"] Let's start with... Obvious: 'scuse me, is that your nose or did a bus park on your face? Meteorological: everybody take cover, she's going to blow! Fashionable: you know, you could de-emphasize your nose if you wore something larger, like... Wyoming. Personal: well, here we are, just the three of us. Punctual: all right, Delbman, your nose was on time but YOU were fifteen minutes late! Envious: Ooooh, I wish I were you! Gosh, to be able to smell your own ear! Naughty: uh, pardon me, sir, some of the ladies have asked if you wouldn't mind putting that thing away. Philosophical: you know, it's not the size of a nose that's important, it's what's IN IT that matters. Humorous: laugh and the world laughs with you. Sneeze, and it's goodbye, Seattle! Commercial: hi, I'm Earl Scheib, and I can paint that nose for $39.95! Polite: uh, would you mind not bobbing your head? The, uh, orchestra keeps changing tempo. Melodic: Everybody. He's got...
Everyone: [singing] The whole world in his nose!
C.D. Bales: Sympathetic: aw, what happened? Did your parents lose a bet with God? Complimentary: you must love the little birdies to give them this to perch on. Scientific: Say, does that thing there influence the tides? Obscure: whoa! I'd hate to see the grindstone. Well, think about it. Inquiring: when you stop to smell the flowers, are they afraid? French: saihr, ze pigs have refused to find any more truffles until you leave! Pornographic: finally, a man who can satisfy two women at once! How many is that? Dean: Fourteen, Chief! C.D. Bales: Religious: the Lord giveth... and He just kept on giving, didn't He? Disgusting: Say, who mows your nose hair? Paranoid: keep that guy away from my cocaine! Aromatic: it must wonderful to wake up in the morning and smell the coffee... in Brazil. Appreciative: Oooh, how original! Most people just have their teeth capped. [he pauses, pretending to be stumped, while the crowd urges him on]
C.D. Bales: All right. Dirty: your name wouldn't be Dick, would it?

That's an awesome piece. Excellent work. Yes it is. Maybe Mykaru will pop in and give me some pointers on pounding out noses.
