OK, here's a picture of me dressed up in the Kimono and Haori: Excuse the dissheveledness. My friends were rushing me to get dressed because they thought we were going to be late in getting to the Metro (a bar near the Castro district in San Francisco). So, in my haste I didn't straighten the collar up and the sleeve of my juban is sticking out int he worst way. I did manage to straighten myself out after the picture though . Everyone who I told I had made it was impressed. A few drag queens called me a "handy man". It ended up being the right amount of layers. I had on 6 layers of thinnish cotton cloth for that outfit, and the temperature outside was the lower 50's F. I wasn't hot and I wasn't cold, I was actually cool and comfortable in it. Everyone was worried I'd burn up, but we weren't inside too much (and standing around inside helped when we were). The buzzed hair makes me look like a monk though.

At last! Barry, you look great. The gold just pops! And don't think I don't see that subtle hint of purple lining peeking out from your haori. Very elegant. It worked for Ken Watanabe. Sigh. OD green khakis, rust mock turtleneck, beige crocheted vest and clogs for work today. I feel so dowdy. Saionji

But Big Sis, that's why mini-skirts exist. Madyaas-hime partying at the Metro on Holloween, while I sleep through it to work at 5 a.m. the next morning. *Sigh* So what's it like having a social life? lol Girl, that outfit is so well done, I won't be surprised if those drag queens start knocking on your door soon offering to pay you for one or two to make for them.
