I thought you Florida guys might like to know.... December 21, 2004- March 13, 2005 • Japanese Armor of the 16th and 17th Centuries The armor of the bushi , or samurai , underwent a profound change in the 16 th century with the introduction of the firearm from the West. Although Japanese armorers had always created works of art, suddenly they were free to select the stylistic vocabulary with which they worked. This exhibition of armor from a period of endemic warfare that ended with the cessation of hostilities for 250 years draws from several private collections in South Florida . It explores a segment of Japanese society during a period of history that continues to fascinate many today. Free with paid admission to the museum. www.morikami.org/exhibits/current_exhibits.htmThe Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens 4000 Morikami Park Road Delray Beach, FL 33446 Phone: 561-495-0233 email: morikami@co.palm-beach.fl.us
