Greetings all... Has anybody come across reference to the family name Subaru (Yes.... Like the all wheel drive steel chariot smith... ) ?!? I have seen the family names Honda, Suzuki, and even Hino mentioned, but not Subaru. I have searched some (but not extensively) for any reference to this name but have come across absolutely no information... Perhaps, if anybody has come across references, they might be kind enough to please post them... Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated. Arigato gozaimasu (Deep respectful bow.) Katayama

That's because "Subaru" isn't a family name. It's an old word that means "star."

Are you asking about "for men"? I'm afraid not. As for women, I'll have to check, but there's something that strikes me as kind of "masculine" about "subaru"
