asking how many? the period pictures I've found where I can see most of the strand to count vary (54-112) and the larger 'spacer' beads are spaced between every seventh to every twelfth of the smaller ones.
Is there a more standard number and spacing?
The reason I'm, asking is I'm making custom carved fimo 'ivory' beads for the smaller and fimo 'coral' for the larger for a gift for a friend who play a devout Bhuddist (not SCA though he plays with us too, in the West as a Crusader) I can't exactly ask him because then he would KNOW something was up.
Help?

(sigh) project now firmly on hold until after we move.
In the last week I've lost all the mock coral and more than half the mock ivory to grubby fingers coming in to view the house. (most after I hid the in progress beads, and this week has been a load of repeat showings.)
I though Realtors were supposed to keep people from walking off with things. Not that they call you to say were on the way until they are on the doorstep (had just pulled a pan of fired beads and turned off the oven when they walked in.
sorry to vent, I'm frustrated, having complained and gotten a "so what" response (the same reaction to our complaints after a Realtor walked in while Lance was in the shower) I just had enough beads finished to do a strand of 110 and now have 12 hidden away in a sealed box.

Sorry to hear of the troubles. I know this is off-topic, but I would recommend two things:
1) All valuables should be packed up and somewhere out of the way.
2) You may want to get a different realtor if they aren't addressing your concerns.
Usually, though, I don't think it will be your realtor showing the house--in my experience it has often been the other person's realtor who gets the key/code/whatever.
I know that it can be a pain, but if you are selling the house, you are planning to move anyway, so I recommend that you go ahead and box up all the stuff you don't desparately need, and possibly even move it out (if you have a friend who can take it for a while, that would be great). Among other things, it might help to sell the house.
Hope everything goes well. I know how difficult it can be going through the process of relocating.

in the last month we've had 70 odd Realtors come through. We've tried talking to the one who listed the house, but she's doing "impossible" to most requests (worse for us we aren't the ones who listed the house, it's owned by the in-laws, so we have no clout)
I've come home twice to formerly sealed boxes being open and disarranged (both time one of the opened boxes was the bead box and in each case it got moved to a different area of the stacks) Most of the loss happened when we had a set show just after I took a batch out of the oven and had nowhere safe to set them to cool (that was one of the realize there's someone there when the door gets opened ones. With a side of "you don't belong here. Get out") Everything we could move to my folks has been (spare computer parts, garb and regalia, as well as all the camping gear) Lance's folks are still cluttered from their move and we didn't want to have to move in with them, but it looks like we'll have to.
The last attempt at telling the Realtor on our side about the problems got us a "well, you should just move out then" reaction. Lance finally is fed up enough that he's looking for a storage unit in the Austin area (where we want to move) where we can moving *everything*. After that it'll be three changes of clothes and the interview suit for each of us in his folks guest room until one of us gets work. (what got him was coming home and finding his computer had been booted up, hacked into and playing a porno video. It now has a three password setup rather than one so it doesn't happen again.)
I'm really irritated because I just got told this morning that yes, the house is under contract, but we still have to show it for the next two weeks at least because the offer is "iffy". Might as well not be under contract from what I can see.
It's really making me not like the industry much, for every decent Realtor we see there are three jerks and one right bastard.
We've been dealing for three months (since Lance graduated) and it's gotten beyond old. All project have to be gone because of some sticky-fingers.
I'm sorry if I sound snippy, but my wakeup call was at 6:30 with another can't call first Realtor.

My dai josu that was gifted to me by a Clan Member and purchased at a store that sells Buddhist items has 56 large wooden beads and two small ending beads. The top central bead has a small set of three circles carved into it representing the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sanga. My small beaded josu has 107 beads, and three gourd shaped spacer, representing the Buddha, Darma, and Sanga. My even smaller beaded wrist josu has 108 wooden beads. three stone beads representing the Buddha, Darma and Sanga, and one gourd shaped irory bead at the bottom. There are also two dangly bits of silk with ten tiny silver beads and two tiny silver vajra, representing the Spokes of the Law. Date
