Kon Ban wa, otomodachi,
I know there is an instrument thread going on below, but it seemed to deal primarily with what kind of instruments are period.
Anyways, I am looking for a fue or side-blown bamboo flute-I have seen some online, but they are pricey, and I don't have a credit card. Besides, they look to be made for folks who know how to play them. I am quite the beginner..I have played recorders in the past, (i don't read music-i learn by ear) and have played japanese songs on them-but they don't sound right.
Any suggestions> or has anyone made one and perhaps is willing to make me one? I'll trade ya some japanese print fabric...... ;D

You can also check Lark in the Morning -- they have a large range of Chinese dizi, which is just what the doctor ordered.

With Lark, it helps to know what you want and what you're buying. They have an interesting selection of stuff, but the range of quality can be all over the map. www.larkinam.comS.

I find that googling images, or varying the keywords or phrases you're searching sometimes leads to interesting results. Like if you do an image search on "Heike" you'll for some reason get Scandahoovian chicks without their tops on! S. That's because 'Heike' is also a Scandanavian female name. Apparently, 'Raito' is also a Finnish male name...

As far as the medieval collection site- Since I don't have a credit card, a friend of mine is gonna order them for me.
I got one in the key of C and one in G....
However, we found out they only take Canadian orders by fax!-but he said he can do this...Sheesh, how annoying!
(i will be paying him back by doing some sewing for him-he's cavalier, and needs some lace boot-toppers)
Yea, i know Lark in the Morning...(major droolage for me...sooo many instruments-Sooo Much Money!!) ;D
