I just happened to be reading the into to the Budoshoshinshu this evening when I ran into this:
"There were other books for generals and feudal lords such as the Koyogunkan..."

I've been struggling with the thought of selling one of my yumi. I purchased a fiberglass yumi (yonsun nobi) a couple of years back and am unhappy with it, preferring my nisun nobi made out of wood. If there is any interest out there, I will consider it. I'll post some pictures if there is enough interest.

Definately. You can PM or email me with details if you like... I am in Virginia (Hampton) for the next 10 days and will be back from Jan 3 to Feb 12. If I can purchase this, I would be very interested in spending time with you to learn the basic in care and handling. Hmmm... I checked the asahi link on www.kyudo.com and for my size (178 cm) and arrow length (~95cm), it seems that the ni-sun bow would be better sized for me. Do you have thoughts on this your Excellency?

Yon sun nobi would be a bit long for your height.
(6 months without shooting is driving me crazy but my shoulder is still screwed up)

How tall are you? I am 5' 10" and though my sensei suggested yonsun nobi (which is why I purchased one), I prefer nisun nobi (which I had bought many years ago). I will post pictures as soon as our new 'puter is up and running. I am having firewall issues from my .mil site at work as well as the system at home...

I suppose it might have been under the guidance of a different ryu or something

I suppose it might have been under the guidance of a different ryu or something Sensei DeProspero was rather adamant about yonsun nobi. Remember, the sensei does not go by exacting standards like an american school would, they go by what they feel and see. He felt my nisun nobi was just a bit to short. And although it is not as strong as my yonsun nobi, I am far more consistant in my form and am able to concentrate on the art and not the shot.

This is my yonsun nobi. Unstrung Strung at proper tension Urahazu Motohazu Nigiri and yazurido She is fibreglass construction with synthetic banding added for historicity. As such, she cannot be used for competition or IKA.

Konichiwa,
Have you sold this yet? If not, how much are you asking for the bow?
Why do you say it can't be used for competition of IKA? I have looked through the SCA wide and the Outlands specific rules, and there is no restriction on Fiberglass or synthetics, just on compound bows. Is there something specifically in your Kingdom that prohibits bows of these materials from being used?

I was not speaking of Inter-Kingdom Archery (IKA) but International Kyudo Association (IKA) which is also the International Kyudo Federation (IKF). They do not allow fiberglass bows in competition. Also, the banding I have added is indicative of a master bow (7th dan or higher) and exceptionally presumptive. I added the bands for aesthetics. Sensei DeProspero enjoyed the banding, but made sure I knew about the IKA/IKF rule and the master bow - thing. I have not sold her, and in fact, went shooting last weekend.
