I am interested in purchasing rattan (shaved?) with a curve that befits Tachi, Katana, Wakizashi, Tanto, Naginata, Nagamaki, etc.
Now that my armor is nearing completion and I await a fine helmet from Mykaru, I wish to start practicing with rattan, rather than my bokken.
I have a good idea on how I can wrap the hilt of my rattan katana, so I'm just looking for plain rattan, shaved for a comfortable thickness.
Is there anyone who can point me in the right direction?

www.caning.com/about.html in the event you can't find a supplier closer to you. The fighter types can instruct you in greater detail on how to make a fightworthy stick. Saionji

I did fin this site: www.franksupply.com/rattan.htmlThey sell 9 foot lengths. I'm not sure if any of it is curved since it seems to be intended for curtain rods. However, rattan for furniture is treated in a steam box to make it pliable. Such a technique may be used for putting a curve in your rattan (although you'd have to work out how to do that yourself Rattan is the trunk of Calamus palms, so you could luck out and get some curved stems, as they snake through canopies, but I assume most of the rattan sold would be selected for its straightness.
